Buying The Right Wheels For Your High Performance Car

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Having a sports car is a wonderful feeling for sure. It is not possible for everyone to spend this much of money and that’s why these cars are loved and aspired by everyone.

If you own one such car, you must make sure that you have all things in tact to make it look smarter. To achieve this specific task, most people opt for wheels because they are available in different designs and varieties.

Before buying wheels, you need to determine your needs. If you are buying wheels only to give your car a more flamboyant look, then you can always choose more flashy wheels. But, if you are actually looking to enhance the performance of your car along with enhancing its looks, then it is better to install only those wheels which carry lower weight.

Heavier wheels are not good for your car because they put more pressure on the engine. This can create problems for you in the long run so avoid it as much as possible. The fact of the matter is that wheels should only be bought after knowing what you want. That’s the way to make a right decision.

Know More About The Two Types Of Brake Systems

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

It would be a stupid statement to say that brakes in vehicles are important. Every one knows that for sure but there is something that most people don’t really know about. This is the types of brake systems.

It is not hard to witness that disc brakes are most commonly used in modern day cars because of their better performance. Actually, when you push the brake pedal, a spinning disc rotor is squeezed by the brake pads available in disc brakes. This results in the stopping of your car.

On the other hand, you can also find some vehicles with drum brakes. These brakes work through brake shoes that apply pressure to a spinning brake drum attached to the wheel of your car. This creates friction and your car starts to slow down.

Both of the systems are based on the simple concept of friction. But, you must keep in mind that this friction can actually damage the brake system including the calipers, drums and rotors. So, don’t overlook the matter of their maintenance as your negligence will make you pay through the nose.
